Overview of our Office

The UBC Investigations Office (IO) responds to formal reports of sexual misconduct and discrimination involving UBC students, faculty, and staff through investigations and alternative resolution processes. The IO also addresses concerns under the Retaliation Policy (SC18) where the alleged retaliation relates to a sexual misconduct or discrimination complaint. Where sexual misconduct or discrimination complaints contain other forms of alleged misconduct, the IO may conduct a consolidated investigation under the revised Investigations Policy (SC8). For full information about the IO’s mandate, authority, and processes, see UBC’s Sexual Misconduct Policy (SC17) and Discrimination Policy (SC7)

Sexual Misconduct Complaints

A written report to the IO is required to initiate any process relating to allegations of sexual misconduct. Learn more about IO processes.

You can confidentially discuss your reporting options and have all of the IO’s processes explained before submitting a report. Email or call us to set up a no-obligation consultation meeting.

Discrimination Complaints

The UBC Equity and Inclusion Office (EIO) offers confidential services that are available to students, faculty or staff members who believe they may have a human rights-based discrimination concern. They should be contacted first to determine the best course of action.

The EIO can offer a confidential consultation to discuss options such as filing a formal complaint with our office. Request an EIO consultation using this button.
