Overview of our Office

The UBC Investigations Office conducts arm’s length and impartial investigations into sexual misconduct and discrimination which are guided by the principles of procedural fairness, respect and a trauma-informed approach. We investigate complaints received from both campuses that fall under Policy SC17: Sexual Misconduct or Policy SC7: Discrimination.

Investigations at our Office

Our investigators each have more than a decade of conducting arm’s length investigations of sexual misconduct and other forms of serious harm, death, human rights, and regulatory practice, in university, provincial and federal contexts. Our investigations are not accusatory, or confrontational and we do not advocate for any party of an investigation. Our investigations are based on findings of fact that take the impact of trauma on memory and presentation into consideration.

You have the right to report, no matter how minor you may think your complaint is.

We encourage you to submit a report online.

Please see our FAQs for information about what to expect during an investigation with our office, whether you are a Complainant or Respondent who is going through the process.

Discrimination Complaints

The UBC Equity and Inclusion Office (EIO) offers confidential services that are available to students, faculty or staff members who believe they may have a human-rights based discrimination concern.

The EIO should be contacted first to discuss options such as filing a formal complaint to our office.

Have you experienced sexual misconduct and you want support but are not sure if you want to report it? Please visit your local SVPRO (Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office) or SASC (Sexual Assault Support Centre) websites for confidential options:UBC Vancouver SVPRO
